Welcome to my next blog, I am astonished to share about Cassowary bird.
Have you all heard about Cassowary ?
Is it new to you?
Yeah, its also new to me. I have gone through it once I scrolled the youtube. I thought of it as an Ostrich but its very strange to me.
Cassowary is a large, flightless bird which is native to New Guinea and Australia. Only 3 species are alive today. It is notoriously aggressive bird. It lives mostly in wetlands. Cassowary has black feathers that covered the whole body except head and neck. The neck is bright blue in colour. Some of these species have waddles hanging from their chin which is red or orange in colour.
Cassowary has large feet with three toes, each having three claws. The kicks of this bird is quite dangerous. It loves mostly to eat fruits. It is illegal to domesticate Cassowary in some places. Cassowary is more similar to that of dinosaur. So, it is considered to be the last surviving dinosaur.
Cassowary reproduce during may and june month. The male build the nests and the female lay eggs in it upto 3 -8 green eggs. After 50 -52 days, the eggs hatch and chicks come out. Until 9 months, chicks are defend by male Cassowary.
