Dazzling flower of Ashoka

Hi everyone, welcome to my next blog, where I would like to share regarding the most prettiest flower I have come across.

One day I was walking along my path, I came across this flower. I initially thought of it as Ixora coccinea as it resembled the plant. But it differs from the plant of Ixora coccinea in many ways, then I started searching to identify the name of the plant. I found out that the plant name is Saraca asoca.

It is commonly known as  Sita Ashok and Sorrowless tree. It belongs to the legume family whereas  I.coccinea belongs to the rubiaceae family. It is an evergreen perennial plant that grows upto 25-30 feet in high. A species of rain-forest tree native to Asia and South America, it is endangered in Western Ghats, India.

Some Indians believe that this plant has religious significance and worship it. Another belief is that this plant  decreases sorrow, so  it is called sorrowless tree. The plant is also known as the  friend of women because it is used for managing menorrhagia and other problems associated with female reproduction. It also has  some other  medicinal properties like analgesic and antidotal.

BE CURIOUS TO KNOW THE UNKNOWN THING
